Western Sydney is growing
With the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport and surrounding business area (also known as the Aerotropolis) at its centre, the Western Parkland City will have new economic and social opportunities, and be an exciting hub for new communities. Now is the time to plan and invest in new passenger rail lines.
The North South Rail Line is a corridor for a passenger rail line connecting St Marys with Macarthur. The line will run from the Main West Line (T1 Western Line) to the Main South Line (T8 Airport and South Line). This rail line will connect to the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport and surrounding business area.
The South West Rail Link Extension corridor will provide for the extension of the existing passenger rail line from Leppington Station to the Aerotropolis.
Key benefits
These passenger lines will:
- Serve as a transport link between the North West, Western Sydney International Airport, South West and Greater Macarthur Growth Areas.
- Provide transport options to support population, jobs and economic growth across Western Sydney and for the new airport and surrounding business area.
- Support future town centres to be designed and planned around future transport infrastructure.
Will the final corridor affect me?
Gazettal of the North South Rail Line and South West Rail Link Extension has no immediate impact on the use of your property or land and existing land uses can continue. However, any development proposed over $200,000 will need to be referred to Transport for NSW for agreement.
There is no need for the government to acquire your property until close to the time the transport infrastructure is required.
